We’re looking for a BI Tech Lead to take ownership of a global logistics organisation’s data and analytics capability, shaping how data is structured, accessed, and used to drive both internal decision-making and client-facing insights.
Our client is an established company that has been operating since 2001. They have a large global market share, but an ambition to continue to expand. They have five internal products, one of which is the only one of its kind in the logistics and freight industry.
The Role:
You’ll lead the design and delivery of an end-to-end data ecosystem from data warehouse architecture and pipelines through to Power BI reporting and predictive analytics.
Alongside the technical ownership, you’ll manage a small team (Data Scientists & Analyst), set best practices, and play a key role in turning data into a true strategic asset for the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Engineering
- Design and implement a scalable data warehouse
- Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple data sources
- Define data models, structures, and governance standards
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Own and develop the Power BI environment
- Deliver interactive dashboards and management reporting
- Lead the transition from Excel-based reporting to modern BI solutions
- Improve accessibility and usability of data across the business
Data Analytics & Data Science
- Drive predictive modelling and advanced analytics
- Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and insights
- Identify opportunities to optimise performance through data
Cloud & Integration
- Support the move to a cloud-based data platform (Azure)
- Build API/OData integrations and scalable data pipelines
Client-Facing Data & Insights
- Work with product teams to embed analytics into digital platforms
- Deliver data-driven insights and reporting capabilities for clients
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of 4 Data Scientists and Analysts
- Establish best practices, standards, and ways of working
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience in BI / Data Engineering / Analytics
- Proven experience leading a team
- Proven experience designing and implementing data warehouses
- Strong SQL and data modelling expertise
- Advanced experience with Power BI (DAX, dashboards, reporting)
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and pipeline design
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or similar)
- Experience with APIs / OData integrations
- Knowledge of Python, R, or other data science tools (desirable)
