Their Need

BrightLocal had been looking for a Senior Designer for over 6 months, and their inability to fill the role was affecting their delivery roadmap. The ideal candidate would be a skilled designer who'd be a strong fit to company culture. BrightLocal place a lot of importance on core beliefs and finding someone who combined good skills, a knowledge of design systems, with the kind of supportive and caring approach they look for in everyone, was a real challenge.

Our Fix

  • We started by created a longlist based on skill, location and budget requirement, through both direct advertising and active candidate channels as well as reaching out to candidates through our passive networks.
  • Our focus was filtering this for designers who’ve delivered clean, engaging UI within complex, data heavy B2B SaaS products as directed by the client brief. We focused on candidates who could clearly explain their design processes and experience, and who we believed would work confidently with product and engineering teams. Just as importantly, ensured each candidate aligned with the team’s cultural values. This shortlist was then submitted to the client for review.
  • The result was that the client screened 6 candidates, and by the 4th stage of the interview process still had2 candidates to decide between hiring that candidate that was the best cultural fit.

The Results

This hire will help BrightLocal to deliver the next generation of user experience to a higher quality, and at a faster pace which directly aligned with their strategic goals, and will be key to meeting revenue goals. It's early days, but Ran is settling in really well and is already taking on tasks which would otherwise have had to wait. We look forward to more collaborations in the future as BrightLocal continues to grow and succeed.
