AI Engineer - Cape Town - Full Remote - R100,000 CTC
I’m partnered with the innovation arm of a global freight management company that’s on a mission to leverage artificial intelligence to drive growth, efficiency, and transformation across its operations. This division sits at the forefront of technology for the entire group, delivering solutions that power both internal systems and customer-facing platforms, from web-based tracking and supply chain portals to document management and telematics systems.
As part of a major investment into AI, the business is looking to automate processes, streamline workflows, and unlock new opportunities through intelligent data solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an AI Engineer to play a key role in shaping and implementing these initiatives from the ground up.
You’ll work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to design and develop AI-driven solutions across multiple areas of the business. You’ll be involved in everything from prototyping and model training to deployment and integration, with the freedom to experiment and innovate.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and developing AI and machine learning models to enhance automation, efficiency, and decision-making
- Working with large datasets from logistics and telematics systems
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify AI opportunities and integrate solutions into existing platforms
- Deploying and optimising models in production environments
- Staying at the forefront of AI trends, tools, and frameworks to drive continuous innovation
What we’re looking for:
- Solid experience in AI engineering, data science, or applied machine learning
- Proficiency with Python and common ML/AI libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas, etc.)
- Experience tuning LLMs, implementing RAG pipelines and integrating with LLMs and OpenAI
- Experience building, training, and deploying models in real-world applications
- Strong understanding of APIs, data pipelines, and cloud environments (Azure or AWS ideal)
- Curiosity and open-mindedness towards emerging AI technologies
